FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER:

Our Ode to Joy: March 19th

Gigis! I am thrilled to tell you that I have stumbled across a treasure in our own backyard in Dr. Caroline Fleck. A very specific Google search led me to her when all signs internal and external (Ha!) made me think that our next topic might just be about the importance of pursuing joy during chaotic times. Not only is she a thought leader in what ails us societally—she is also an engaging conversationalist. I have no doubt that we are in for a big treat at our next gathering on March 19th from 6-8PM at the San Jose Clubhouse.

Dr. Caroline Fleck is a licensed psychologist, corporate consultant, and Adjunct Clinical Instructor at Stanford University. She received a B.A. in psychology and English from the University of Michigan, followed by an M.A. and Ph.D from the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Duke University.

She has served as a supervisor and consultant for some of the most rigorous clinical training programs in the country (including Stanford Medical Center and VA Palo Alto) and has been featured in national media outlets, including The New York Times, Good Morning America, and The Huffington Post.

Dr. Fleck has a book coming out this month. She will have copies for sale at our event, but if you would like to join me in reading it before we gather, you can pre-order it here:

Validation: How the Skill Set That Revolutionized Psychology Will Transform Your Relationships, Increase Your Influence, and Change Your Life

Schedule for March 19th:

6:00-6:30 Social time and snacks

6:30-7:00 Dr. Fleck and I will have a conversation about how community and joy impact our ability to be resilient during challenging times

7:00-7:30 Q&A with Dr. Fleck and the audience

7:30-8:00 Small-group breakout for a little fun and games so that we all walk away practicing what was “preached” so that we might internalize the reminder

I hope you will join me in this quest to remember that we are better together… that we have more in common than what divides us… that fun and connection and giving our brains a little razzle dazzle matter so much to our wellbeing.

Looking forward to seeing you soon!
